Like we all know the sort of suburban white people who will go on and on about how they don’t hate black people but are absolutely fucking terrified of them. Also I did double check and this looks to be legitimate and they just asked respondents to rate on a scale of 0 to 100. It’s self-reported opinions rather than actual behavior
Sure but I think there are more or less legitimate reasons to make generalizations. White people have always been at the top of power structures in America and still are for the most part. Many of them work hard to keep minorities out of it like what we’re seeing the trump admin do. I think it’s reasonable to have a less than favorable opinion of those people as a group
Because there is social pressure not to be seen as racist and to deny the existence of one’s own racial bias. I say this as a privileged white person. People around me frequently say racist things, but don’t realized it’s racist and will get really defensive if you point it out. For a lot of white people, there’s this idea that you aren’t racist so long as you deny being such.
Oh also the methodology was “rate the groups from 0-100” according to the author. I’m sure dividing each race further into highest education level, ethnic background, income, age, etc. would be much more revealing on factors that influence the answers (there’s also historical aspects but that’s beside the point). The graphs are bottom of the barrel econometrics which have more R Studio code to make the graphs pretty than it does for actual analysis
