Dating preferences are not homophobic. You can be picky on the sexual orientation of your partner because that’s the entire point. What is homophobic is when preferences occur outside of dating.

Okay, let me lay this out for you. A lot of straight women are homophobic. Thus, they view gay sex as disgusting. Therefore, disgust at the idea that a partner would be willing to engage in gay sex and being unwilling to date them for that reason is, in fact, homophobia.

The reason they don’t date bi men is because of homophobia. We need to stop accepting bigotry as just “preferences.” A lot of them don’t want their man to cheat on them with another man, and to them it’s even worse if he’s the one who is taking on the “submissive” role during sex. A man being penetrated is seen as weakness/feminine in the West

Not wanting to date a bi person because you are homophobia is comparable to not wanting to date a black person because you are racist. Nobody can force you to date someone you don’t want to but it might not necessarily be the morally correct position to have

It’s homophobic when the reason they don’t date bi men is because they think having sex with men is disgusting, and you’d be surprised how common that is

I think that’s a lot of why people say bi men are gay kinda

It’s not bigotry. You are allowed to choose your parter based on sexual orientation. It’s stupid to call someone a bigot because they want a romantic partner than aligns with themselves romantically. You are allowed to only choose straight partners.

Apples to oranges. Someone’s race is a characteristic that occurs outside of dating while being straight, gay, or bi is EXCLUSIVE to dating.

Let’s say a woman finds a man. He’s everything she wants. She finds him attractive, they have common interests, shared goals ect the full 9 yards. But she rejects him solely because he’s bi. U don’t think that’s an issue? Ur partners sexuality doesn’t necessarily have to align with urs as long as they find u attractive…

Especially because they always assume that their partner is the one being penetrated or being the “submissive” one. Idk why there is this huge stigmatization around gay men and the obsession with male penetration. It NEEDS to be studied

Exactly! Personally I’m a verse, as are most bi guys probably. The obsession around penetration goes far beyond just gay stuff though, there’s a huge stigma in our society that sex = penetration. I’ve done basically everything but that with a guy and I’d say that was still sex.

Here’s how I am understanding your argument: Some straight women who don’t want to date bi men do so because of homophobic reasons. Therefore, it is okay to label ALL straight women who don’t want to date bi men as homophobic. It just isn’t the correct way to combat the issue.

Not really, my argument is that if you do not want to date someone that you are attracted to and who is attracted to you, for the reason that they also like the same sex, that is homophobic.

Also, it is okay to view certain sexual acts as gross because not everyone is into the same thing and that is okay. With that being said. It is important to respect those who have different interests than you as long as they are not causing harm.

No it’s not. Many people just want to date a straight person for religious reasons and are still very respectful of other people’s personal choices.

Religious reasons? Like what? Surely not homophobia right?

Cause it is imo. I’d argue the stigma around men being penetrated is also rooted in misogyny. It’s assumed that we do sex to women(hence why many ppl feel like women can’t rape men.) so a man being in a “woman’s role” during sex isn’t masculine or manly in anyway. Cause there’s a stigma around men getting pegged by women too

Still not homophobia but I guess we have different definitions of it. Homophobia is a fear of anyone who is not straight resulting in a lack of respect and opportunities in society. That is much different from dating. Dating is extremely personal and should not be other people’s business to judge if it’s a consensual relationship. People are entitled to the to choose a partner that reflects their own values and preferences while still respecting those who do not fit into the person’s dating mold

That is not what homophobia is. Homophobia is fear *and disgust* that leads to not only lack of respect and opportunities, but also violence, disenfranchisement, dehumanization and more. Also who said anything about respect? If you think that someone’s sexuality is disgusting that’s not respectful, no matter how civil you are about it.

go ahead and explain what sexual acts you’re referring to as gross, and why; considering this is a discussion on the willingness of straight people to date bisexual people. and this fucker wants to act like they’re not homophobic.

You think I’m projecting but I’m literally just trying to say that it’s okay to think a sexual act you are not interested in is gross. Straight people may think gay sex is gross. Asexuals may think all sex is gross. Gay people may think some straight sexual acts are gross. There is a clear difference between respecting others and forcing someone to be in a relationship with someone else who doesn’t align with your sexual desires.

did I say the word “projection” in my comment? and WHY would you think “gay sex” is gross? (also, it’s just sex you stupid fuck, sex between two people of the same sex. not “gay sex”) look at that, a homophobe who can’t comprehend or accept that they’re a homophobe.

Did I say gay sex is gross? No I did not. All you want to do is argue and intimidate me into complying with your ideology. You are assuming at I think a specific sexual act is gross when that was never my argument in the first place. Stop jumping to conclusions and if you don’t want to have a productive conversation, then please just shut up.

I never said I was straight (but I will lyk I am). Yes, straight people should listen to those who are not straight to identify homophobia, but in the modern political landscape, the word has basically been used to describe anyone who is straight and prefers to date straight people. The word has gotten so watered down that it puts most straight people in the same category as people who want the government to ban anything not straight.

How is that homophobic? It’s just a description of preferences based on orientation. It is not intentionally derogatory. Call me stupid all you want, but that tactic isn’t going to work with 90% of people you debate.
