They’re free intro courses, usually self paced.

You need to enroll and to get the certificate showing you’ve completed it you do have to pay for it after you finish the course, but to gain access to the course and the material is absolutely free

Yes, usually the certificates are relatively cheap. Most are offered around $200. Comparing that to a typical college credit≈$600-$1000 it’s a pretty good deal
