Pretty sure all the auto CEOs that sold out the town were republicans, but ok

Actually it was the unions which made manufacturing impossible due to how much the workers were demanding along with the loosening of import controls on foreign vehicles.

Paying workers adequately for their labor is the bare minimum. The CEOs didn’t like that though, so they went overseas where there weren’t unions protecting workers.

The quite literally couldn’t afford to pay the workers after we let foreign made cars into the country. The government hen had to bail out the auto manufacturers. If anything your argument is in favor of tariffs.

Tariffs only work if you have a robust manufacturing industry in the country which we don’t. You can’t institute mass tariffs without domestic industry (which we sold to foreign vendors). It’s always funny to me when the capitalist competition people are seemingly deeply against competition when companies go under bc they can’t afford to pay workers
