This is a terrible idea and wouldn’t work. You’re basing this off of a notion of geography being the issue with American division. It’s not. Our issue is political division, resulting from a very, very complicated mix of factors. For instance, in California, the rural areas (so not LA, San Diego, and San Francisco) are largely Republican. Oregon was mentioned, and Western Washington wants to split too. Illinois has deep divide too, between Chicago (which dominates its politics) and the rest.
There is no way to split the country in which political unity will be achieved. If anything, you’ll just make people feel more alienated than they already do. Plus, then that means if Texas doesn’t like policies of the East Coast, they can close their borders to them, hurting tourism and trade. I could write a book on all the reasons this is a bad idea.
