this, btw, is a huge part of why the left can’t fucking mobilize. cause for leftist stuff it’s “read theory” or “do your own research” but conservatives have NO problem rambling to anyone who will listen about their insane beliefs

and if i say that the “I’m not your teacher, do the damn research yourself” mentality has provided cover for conservatives to hold wildly insane beliefs and never have to prove them to THEMSELVES because they can just say “google it” when challenged…

YESSSSS I started seeing this in 2020 with “it’s not my job to educate you”. Like of course it’s not, but there’s no need to be hostile to people who are trying to learn

In the context of 2020 I think it was people asking their black friends to teach them about systemic racism. It wasn’t black people’s job to teach people, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to give them a bit of help or at least just say “I don’t really have the time right now”. Nowadays though, if you’re talking about politics (especially if you claim to be “organizing”), it is quite literally your job
