meanwhile misandry is entirely nonexistent in terms of systemic backing. seems like the clowns have come out for their performance.

I don’t think that’s exactly true, the patriarchy can encourage the downgrading and mistreatment of men who are not in the upper hierarchies it creates. Degrading young men as broke, telling them their only worth is through productivity

but that is not misandry, and you know that. the patriarchy still places men in a higher position of power than everyone else, and misandry is specifically the counterpart of misogyny geared towards men. as others have said in other posts, misandry can absolutely exists on an individual scale, but it does not exist in terms of systemic backing or support. establishing an oppressive expectation of “what a man is” is not synonymous to a prejudice against all men by nature of being a man.

tldr: no, you’re attempting to equate toxic masculinity as a result of the patriarchy as being synonymous with misandry, when those are two different and specific terms.

toxic masculinity absolutely exists systemically, and it’s a major problem, but that is not misandry; claiming it is solely serves to feed the preconceived notions of outright misogynists without actually doing anything to address the root cause of why toxic masculinity exists, and how to deconstruct it (being a deconstruction of the patriarchy itself)

You don’t think the patriarchy can encourage misandry as a way to keep people divided based on gendered lines?

maybe, IF AT ALL, as a downstream result of the aforementioned toxic masculinity, but again we’re talking about systemic issues. I already acknowledged that it can, and does, exist on an individual scale but that isn’t the same as being codified into law like “men are not permitted to own houses” or “men are not permitted to vote” that’s why I’m making the distinction about systemic misandry, because the patriarchy has overwhelmingly had systemic misogyny ingrained into society and codified

into various laws throughout the history of the world. (actually scratch that earlier “IF AT ALL”, because yeah misandry as a downstream result of toxic masculinity can be overall ascribed to the patriarchy, but not as an intended result imo, more so as a retaliatory consequence of the impact of the patriarchy itself.)

(but still, that’s entirely limited to the scale of the individual)
