Mexico City is absolutely infested with foreigners the digital nomads and tourists have taken over the soul of so many neighborhoods. Literally can’t even go bar hopping in Roma without feeling like you’re in Europe.

My hot take is that poorer countries can be xenophobic because a lot more harm is done to their economy and culture by foreigners being there than it is in the west

The west is a cultural zone of Europe and countries with largely European heritage. Latin America is VERY mixed with indigenous practices. The only countries that you could make an argument for as being a part of the “west” are Argentina and Uruguay
