A private investigator and an ex US-Marshals agent both have a new similar theory on what happened. They think someone or several people from a Mexican Cartel kidnapped Nancy Guthrie.

Ex US-Marshals Agent: “But this is all about making money and that is what the Mexican cartels are all about. “They know the family has money, they know (Nancy Guthrie) is a high-profile target, they know they would get attention, they know they would get reaction and I think that’s what we’re seeing going on right now.”

Private Investigator: “That particular area of Arizona is a high drug and money transporting area,” he said. “It has deepened my believe that this is in some way related to a money-making venture by people involved with a cartel.”

This theory ties into the Bitcoin ransoms that the news outlets have been receiving

Bitcoin ransoms could be from some unorganized third party, wouldn’t be surprised if this is merely unsubstantiated claims to continue to demonize Latino Americans

The news outlets are the ones receiving ransom demands? Not the family?

“They would have to choose a location that’s safe and where they’re less likely to be caught in the act — that’s why I suspect she would be somewhat north of Tucson in that hundred-to-130-mile area between Tucson and outside of Phoenix and Mesa Arizona. To me, that would be a more logical place to look for Nancy.”

yeah he used subordinate employees to drive him places for non-governmental occasions, he ignored ethics boards before presenting information to U.S. Marshalls, and used his title to fundraise illegally
