It’s gotta be the narcissism. The second they notice the first sign of aging, they they mortal for the first time in their life, they place all of their personal value into shallow displays of strength and appearances, they have no concept of aged beauty, and they CAN’T be one of “those” so they get more and more plastic surgery until eventually they’ve fallen down the slope and made themselves look like aliens with laminated faces.
