Some chucklefuck had a long conversation about this guy trying to explain why postcolonial countries in Africa/latin America struggle, while in Asia they don’t. When it’s just a bad question. The premises are flawed

How are the premises flawed? The whole notion that colonialism 200 years ago is forcing these countries to remain in the Stone Age is bogus.

Or u just don’t know history. Colonialism is PARTIALLY the reason these countries are underdeveloped. Colonialism has long impactful consequences.

Kinda crazy how South Africa had it figured out then when that ended they couldn’t even be bothered to upkeep the infrastructure. Colonialism was the way forward for these societies. They wouldn’t still be fighting ethnic wars based on petty tribal differences.

…..colonial powers also propped up and amplified these systems of “petty tribal differences” to keep infighting high enough that the subjugated would never achieve enough collective consciousness to fight back,,,,,,,

Colonialism for the countries I mentioned ended less than 100 years ago

Colonialism literally caused the ethnic tensions to get so bad in India that they had to form 2 new countries 💀

Never mind how the British internalized the caste system into their government there, literally baking it into their institutions too and affecting employment, immigration patterns, and living conditions to this day.

Brother the British Raj lasted for 89 years. Indian societies have existed for thousands. How does a brief period of colonization affect that country for hundreds of years after?? Maybe because those societies are naturally less developed. We’ve given over a TRILLION dollars in aid to Africa, and what have we seen come of it?? Absolutely nothing, they still kill each other, they still ethnically cleanse, they still starve, and they still have made zero advancements in education.

The British raj ended in 1945 and succeeded the company raj, which lasted from 1765 until 1858. All in all the British were in India for 180 years, and were in India as recently as 80 years ago.

You don’t understand the basics of the history that you’re discussing. How am I supposed to trust your historical analysis if you don’t even know the chronology?

None of the countries I mentioned are in Africa. Aren’t we talking about Asia?

Can’t forget about Portuguese and Dutch India, although the Dutch played a larger role in Sri Lanka
