Most conservatives do not perceive Latin Americans as being “westerners” even though they are. And in countries with harsh immigration crackdowns on “non westerners” it has also been controversial (see the Dawn raids in New Zealand)

Ice was also less controversial before they started being used as a tool to violently punish blue cities and indiscriminately terrorize brown people.
