Respectfully, anyone who thinks that game No Mercy shouldn’t have been taken down is sympathizing with pdfs.

… right. Agreed. But we can take down that game without letting credit card companies control what is and isn’t allowed on every game platform

Which is as I understand it, the main concern. The fact it wasn’t just steam taking down that game.

But how long must steam ignore literal depictions of CSAM that were generated with AI, which uses real images of children, before relying on someone else to take action. I think Steam should have the power, but this is a result of refusal to take action.

The credit card companies slowly taking control of all media is a result of inaction? Yeah okay. I’m sure they said the same thing.

Then engage with the dialogue. How long must Steam allow that content to exist and be promoted on their platform before external action needs to be taken? Why should those companies be forced to accept that taking place?

I don’t think there is any point in which it’s acceptable for large monopolizing corporations to use their power to broadly censor huge swaths of media. If their issue was just with that game and games like it, we’d be having a different convo. But that’s not true, is it?

If the media they’re censoring is specifically pedophilic in nature and includes depiction of generative child sexual assault material, then it’s absolutely acceptable. You can be a free speech absolutist and against material that’s exploitative in nature for children

But it isn’t. They’re censoring huge amounts of media, most of which is not pedophilic

The fuckin guidelines outline even SPEAKING about topics like breast feeding, menstruation, all sorts of normal ass shit. You defend it by pointing out it removes the worst of the worst, and it does. But you ignore eveeeeeerything else. And everything else is the REAL target.
