I just wish republicans were intellectually capable of understanding abstract concepts.

that would require neural connections

that would require actually caring about facts over feelings though, and they don’t do that

I wish you were able to understand subtleties and nuance instead of calling half of Americans intellectually incapable.

If they were intellectually capable, then they would’ve been capable of discerning Donald Trump to be a lying crook after hearing his first campaign speech, and we would’ve never gotten 2016 Trump, let alone fucking 2024 Trump

Well, half of the United States didn’t vote for either candidate. About a third of the voting population didn’t even vote at all. This is directed most specifically at MAGA because many Republicans feel the party has left them. Instead, you went for the anger jugular, which is an example of how easily MAGA is manipulated by Trump.

I don’t know your political alignment, of course. However, that’s a line that MAGA uses repeatedly to try to sever any nuances and make everything an absolutism battle. Immigration is the best example of the current GOP refusing any kind of nuance. It’s either recklessly rounding people up (in a dangerous and illegal manner) or it’s “democrats want illegal aliens in the country more than citizens!!”

If you talk to most democrats and people on the left, we do think having a secure border is important, but we also believe in doing it in a manner that is humane. We don’t need to be violating people’s 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th amendment rights to reasonably enforce immigration laws.

While people shouldn’t enter without proper documentation, we should make that process more accessible for people who are just trying to make a better life for themselves and their families here. If someone’s undocumented and commits a violent crime, they should be kicked out of the country. However, the vast majority of people entering the United States are not violent criminals, and the humane choice is to understand that and give room for nuance there.

In the end, we were meant to be a melting pot. Diversity in our society is what makes the United States the great country it is. Any decent person should be able to come here and be able to make a life for themselves. Paths to legal residency and citizenship being more accessible will allow us to grow the economy. The more people we can get to go about it the right way, the better, and that requires actions based on specific nuances.

I typed a whole ass essay LMAOOO, but we all have more in common than we think we do. It’s the people at the top, the billionaires/oligarchy, that continue to screw us over, and want us to fight each other while they take our rights and power away. It’s important we don’t let them do that.
