I’m just really done being made fun of by people for a 1% difference in politics. It’s gotten to a point where I’m just debating disengaging with politics on a national level.

I get it dw. At this point I have a think enough skin it doesn’t bother me but I totally understand where you’re coming from What I try to do is bring together people where I can. I find it is more productive to focus on the 99% we agree with then the 1% we don’t, and if I can help contribute to a unified front, that is satisfying for me

Personally, I just need a break for now. I thought my side was better than this. I thought we were able to make mistakes and correct each other without losing our shit. I have been sorely mistaken about progressivism. I don’t know where I belong anymore.

Absolutely. I study political science. I’m almost finished my degree. I absolutely try and stay engaged and try to keep up to date. I don’t really think I need a leftist community for that. Like, this really made me wonder if being apart of a leftist community is harming my ideological progress, and not allowing me to experiment with new thoughts.

I wouldn't really call yik yak a community bro. It's been infamous for extreme takes and posts since it came out last decade. You'll eventually find a leftist community better suited to your temperament, just probs not whre.
