some historians and sociologists dedicated their entire lives to understanding and defining the common traits of fascism in order for us to be able to recognize it during its rising periods, just for anti-intellectual children who sympathize with the fascists in question to hyper-fixate on a single one of those traits, IF THAT tldr: you’re infuriating as fuck, and downplaying or siding with the fascists won’t save you in the long run.
is your goal to communicate and reach an understanding or just to be right? bc i am confused. I just feel frustrated bc i feel like I am operating in good faith and you are seemingly just contradicting what I am saying without truly considering it. I don’t want to just “win” this argument or make you feel dumb, i am just trying to explain other people’s perspective and why they do see a connection between fascist ideology in nazi germany and rising fascism in this country
Objectively according to the principles of fascism written by Giovanni gentile (the founder of the ideology) and later agreed upon by Mussolini, the core principles are a corporatist state, ultranationalist, loyalty to the state and the leader is a requirement, dissent is not tolerated, highly expansionist, militaristic with the military being the core aspect of the states power,
And how do you respond to that? Do you wake up, every day? Pay your price at the pump? Go to your silly meaningless job? Get your groceries? Sleep again? Do you protest? Do you call in phone banks? Do you turn your opposition into ACTION? I already know the answer. And that is what makes you a mitlaufer.
Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology. Now, technically we can see we are pre fascism, but Trump is unequivocally a fascist. He wants to be the only leader, its why he only has loyalists, he is also trying for ultranationalism, which is most of his cult. He is trying to get rid of people who don’t fit his definition of America. This is fascism by definition, theres also the 14 points, of which he fits at least 12, but i would argue all 14.
Did you notice? How it took me several HOURS to respond? I’m using my day off to phone bank. And, for the record, lunch is almost over, so you’ll see me in a couple hours again. Use the time to run through the mental gymnastics required to justify your complacency and inaction. Posting on yikyak isn’t “taking action.” It’s social media. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go back to taking action.
I personally see a lot of connections to the Trump admin in this list. For the first one, he has openly tried to get around term limits & bribe people to win elections which is directly undermining democracy and increasing the power of the president. He has praised Kim Jong Un & started the war with Iran with no congressional approval. You can obviously see the rejection of democracy & the scapegoating
So, fun fact that apparently people don’t realize, the Nazis didn’t just mess with jewish people, and Jewish people weren’t the only people they targeted and put in camps! It also includes ofc, disabled people, people of color, queer people, and others. Now, we still see that the majority of it was one group, but it wasn’t 100%, just food for thought.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO “mostly a spanish thing” is a GROSS misreading of history. The Spaniards pioneers anarcho-syndicalism which is an anarchist system. Mussolini turned it on its head and created national syndicalism, which inverts the anarchist form into a fascist one. It’s the same dynamic between socialism and “national socialism” aka Nazism
Oh you meant the government of Spain at the time, not the revolutionaries. Gotcha. Still, “Italy wasn’t fully national syndicalist” is only really true if you hold the Francoist regime as the standard. That begs the point tho that holding the most extreme examples as the standard/bar doesnt follow logically. They’re the most extreme. In poli sci, we generally use principles from prob+stats to figure out the average, and so you’d look at the bell curve’s center figuratively. Not the extremes
so not a sympathizer, but a genuine fascist, then? as you sit there dismissing the rise of modern fascism and discrediting the largest neonazi movement in the modern era (in what seems to be an attempt to detach them from their own claimed beliefs, a dogshit attempt at propaganda I might add) these little charades you’re playing won’t save you from the accountability you’ll meet in the future; be it through a series of public trials, or a high velocity round of lead.
do you need a lesson in literacy? *NEO-nazis*, emphasis on the word NEO, meaning new. That refers to individuals and organizations who have willingly adopted either pure Naziism, or a modified version of Naziism, in the modern era. no, nearly all (if not all) Nazis are dead, as that term specifically refers to the Third Reich, but we’re talking about NEONAZIS. you illiterate fascist.
I did not call you a white supremacist, you dumbass, I brought that up because you mentioned not being white in defense of me calling you a fascist. if you stopped projecting for a single second, you’d recognize that you’re talking out of your ass. to give you the benefit of doubt once more, I’ll retract my critique of you being a fascist assuming your earlier remarks were merely a dogshit attempt at a joke; but that just brings us back to the topic of sympathizing.
Trump has been weaponizing DOJ and DHS to go after his political opponents since the beginning of his second term. This is a pattern of abusing his powers. He’s been targeting Ilhan Omar specifically and making disgusting comments about her ethnicity since last year. This isn’t a coincidence and yes, politically motivated investigations is a hallmark of fascism.
