Btw most people who don’t use AI aren’t boycotting it, they’re just able to live their lives without it because it’s not that useful and not remotely worth the trade offs

And when the bubble bursts bc it imperially doesn’t increase profits for the companies that use it, everyone who never started using it will have saved themselves the time

I work in tech and like 90% of developers are using AI. From Engineer 1 to fellow. I’m not gonna act like it’s a silver bullet but to say it’s not that useful is kinda just sticking your head in the sand imo. It’s not going anywhere even if it’s not what it’s hyped up to be

That’s probably some of my own bias creeping in, I work in medicine so using AI is honestly worse than doing nothing at all. I do plan to just weather the storm of all the hype and people claiming it’s world changing while using us to train their algorithms. Eventually I think a hyper-specific (paid only) tested AI model will come forward and be useful in a real sense but till then AI is only slightly better than a random word generator as far as my job goes.

shoutout to that one assignment my careers in medicine class made us do that compared AI’s medical advice with actual medical advice (chat, siri, and microsoft 365 would have all killed the patient)
