All I will say, if you also had to deal with a large population with the extreme social and cultural conservatism of much of south Asian Islam, you guys would understand why Indians do not like Islam much.

Are you attempting to prescriptively justify how Islamophobic Indians feel? I’m all for shitting on religious fundamentalists, but I don’t think I could ever elevate my antitheism to literal political prescriptions against groups of people.

South Asian Muslims are built different. Many 2nd or 3rd generation Pakistani or Indian Muslims born and raised in the UK will not listen to music, will not shake women’s hands, will not respect women who have dated. And these are just the people who have relatively wealthy and have been raised abroad

India has always respected and welcomed religions. Jews in India have faced no recorded antisemitism. When the Zoroastrians fled mass conversion in Iran, they went to India. Tibetan Buddhists seemed refuge in India when China took over Tibet You must ask: why would a culture that welcomes religions seem to have a particular problem with only one group? And it’s because of the conservatism. It’s literally a problem and just because they’re a minority community doesn’t mean anything

Idk how not listening to music is a bad thing? Also they’re not supposed to shake women’s hands if they’re not related anyway idk what ur point here is, unless you’re saying men touching women is a good thing? And to begin with anyway, why are you posting about the UK in “US Politics”? Loser behavior

In the west, “minority” carries with it a certain meaning of powerlessness. And that’s understandable. In the west, it was minorities who were brutalized by the majority mainly. But in the east, historically, this has been flipped. From the qing dynasty in China, to the Mughals in India, to the caste system of India, to the colonization of Asia and Africa, in the east we find that historically, oppression was often done by the minority onto the majority.

Everyone here will blast you for this but you're right. Americans don't know about the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal, how the UK Pakistani community helped cover up literal thousands of rapes, and just how many continued to defend the perps even after they were convicted with tons of evidence. They wouldn't care anyway and it'll fall upon deaf ears here as leftists perceive them to be an oppressed community™ so they’ll bend over backwards to make excuses for them. Don’t even bother

Not to make excuses for the Hindu nationalists, who aren’t much better, or smarter. All of South Asia has serious cultural problems that need to be honestly addressed, some of which are particular to South Asian Muslims.

we must acknowledge the incredibly conservative culture of India itself. There is a deep and inextricable culture of suppressing women, concentrating wealth and power in a select few families, and the purity culture that, while previously saved lives centuries ago, now perpetuates casteism. Indians don’t hate Islam because Islam is conservative, Indians hate *the presence of Islam* because of love jihad, the Bombay bombings, and Pakistan, all of which Indians played an equal part in too.

The further south you go, I’ve found, communities are a lot more accepting of Muslims. Don’t justify your own bigotry by dragging everyone else into it.
