It’s really disheartening to think that after decades we will surely view the immigration policy this nation holds currently in the sense of the police state and detention centers to be built the same way we now view insane asylums of the early 1900s.

Like why do we only realize our wrongs when we look back that far? It’s NOT going to just be swept away with time the way people think. It causes real damage that resonates centuries.

I think it’s because we are taught so much of what happened but not a lot of how it happened. The things that happen seem like “it’d never happen today” because many people don’t realize the slow build of atrocities. Everyone thinks shifts and events happened over night and not over decades
