dude i’m gonna be honest, this is u rn. it’s been several hours and literally all it would take for it to stop is to close the app and ignore it for a few hours. people keep responding because you keep reacting, that’s the reality of the internet. it’s not going to stop until you show them it doesn’t bother you. come back in a few hours/ a day and literally no one will be talking about it

But why does nobody care that they’re harassing me? Why is it always the victim who has to leave to accommodate the aggressor? It’s not fair to me.

It’s more like, there’s two birds in there, and one keep following me and beating me, so yall tell me to leave. I do, and they follow me beating me, so yall blame me for not leaving.

i understand it’s not fair to you, but some people are just dicks. it’s unavoidable sometimes. you showed a vulnerability and they’re taking advantage of it. just block them and move on, complaining about it will only add fuel to the fire. if it still persists, email yikyak support or something

I contacted law enforcement and they said they’d reach out to the company. I’m hoping something comes of it - but I have very little faith. The admin team seem to support this behavior. It’s why I went to law enforcement.

I’m sure law enforcement told you to block them

law enforcement isn’t going to do anything. if they haven’t made any threats or doxxed you, there’s nothing they’re going to say except “block them” it’s just unfortunately how it is. it fucking sucks but it’s the reality we live in

They’ve made specific references to extortion, and refusing to stop unless I do something to or for them. In my state, it’s illegal to repeatedly harass someone with a phone, and that alone can lead to a protective order. That’s what I want. Since then, if they continue, they’d be held responsible.

the problem is that this is a national platform group — it’d be different if it was your school. trust me, i’ve had actual sextortion used against me and with my actual phone number and internet accounts…

While that’s true, I could still get the order in my state. Which would force the other person to cease contact. It would force me as well - but I’m fine with that. I’m not fine with stopping just for her to continuing threatening me in DMS and harassing me.

they aren’t going to go forward with that unless you’ve done everything in your power to prevent them from contacting you, i.e block them. then they literally cannot contact you or see your posts unless they make a new account to continue, in which case you will actually have something against them. until then, they’re just going to tell you to block them

I respect your advice, but I’m still going to be pursuing it. Since they’ve threatened me to stop - I doubly want to pursue it.

trust me, it’s fruitless. the police are going to tell you the exact same thing we have. until it becomes an actual harassment case in their eyes (persistent harassment even with blocking) they won’t do anything. good luck with it, but you’re wasting your time pursuing legal action as it is

Literally just block and I’m 99% sure the problem will be solved

literally my body and physical safety was on the line, in addition to online sexual crimes committed, and physically sobbing in the police station with repeated reports and very specific statutes cited to them. i even had the perps’ legal first & last name… they did nothing. i promise you’re just going to break your own heart. you have zero information on this person. they are not going to spend their resources on this person, i promise. it’s fucked up and infuriating, but that’s how it is…

I respect your opinion and appreciate your advice. I don’t know what else to say. I can’t say I want to seek those options any less.
