But what the US came to be was an imperfect place always striving to be just a bit better every day. American Heritage is John Brown, it’s Martin Luther King, it’s Pete Seeger, it’s Bruce Springsteen, it’s Rosa Parks, it’s John Lewis.

I fear you are being a bit dismissive. I think it’s dope that you personally see the good in this country, I think everyone can see the good in this country. However not being able to acknowledge that this country is racist is an issue. Even looking at this post, Black ppl had nothing to do with this mans death, and the initial reaction for retaliation in Charlies honor was to target HBCUs…. What other explanation besides the country is racist.

I never said there wasn’t racism here. I said that because there is, it’s our responsibility not to give up, or let it become defined by racism. Racists WANT those ideas to define us, and I say don’t let them.

Its more than just racism being out there… Racism is in the fabric of this country. Yes lets work together and collaborate to change that but let’s also be very frank that in 2025 this country is racist. If you can’t boldly say that we will never get better
