Yeah I get my sound by flattening coins on railroad tracks and then taking them home and filing them into the shape of a pick. 1¢ a pick is a great deal and a unique sound And if you don’t use the bass track then drums I can promise will be great. If you ever need anything reach out to me

You might like the sound of a silver pick too!! Pre-1965 dimes are 90% silver and cost less than $2.50! Ik it’s a bit pricy relatively speaking, but the sound is so unique. Pre-82 pennies are 95% copper too so it’d be more sturdy than the zinc and have a different tone

the feel is super nice too, i gave one as a gift to a friend that does magic and he hates me bc he can never go back to modern coins! a silver-on-silver ping has such a pretty bell-like ring to it too, so the tone might sound a bit cleaner than usual

I have a giant jar of loose change, so I’ll definitely look through them! If I find any I’ll head to the train tracks and get it flattened I’m curious how it’ll sound when flattened, because it does change the sound from a regular coin. I might even do what I do to some of my homemade picks, which is cut out a crescent shaped notch. I do that because when you pluck a string, it essentially hits it twice in quick succession and gives it a cool ringing sound

Chances are quite low since most got pulled from circulation in the huge spike in melt price in 1980 and almost all of what was left was pulled in 2009, but it’s still possible!! i found 3 dimes and 3 silver nickels in almost $2000 of change, but my mom found 2 quarters in her change in a day! There’s always the other free methods of checking through coin rolls or the reject bins of a coinstar too :p
