They’re fundamentalists that Israel propped up because it viewed their radicalism as an obstacle for the obtaining of Palestinian statehood. Every rebelling militant group has understandable reasons for doing so, doesn’t mean they can’t also be bad fundamentalists themselves.

Like I feel like we should have learned by now that Islamic fundamentalist militias form because of understandable social and political factors, predominantly as reaction to external imperialism, but that doesn’t mean they’re good.
