I’m not sure where you grew up Woody Guthrie, but nobody changes their mind about something when a stranger tells them facts unless they are willing to learn and become a better person. The mentality you describe is one that scientists and experts do not have (some do but not the best of the best do), this is because to stay up to date on things and to stay intelligent you must learn and adapt.

it worked! i have continued using that method, along with mass line, and it’s worked other times as well. anecdotal or not, don’t ask why people don’t change their minds, ask why you aren’t changing their minds!

That’s months of work to change 4 people’s minds from either slightly opposed or apathetic, if they were vehemently opposed to it, as much of the conservative base is, you’re not going to get that time nor will they be nearly as receptive

and it was worth it! two of them were conservatives and one was a regular ole liberal. i’ve worked on other conservatives, i got my three time trump voting coworker to come to a SWA meeting with me a few weeks ago. i’ll continue doing what works for me!

i’ll continue doing what i do cause it has proved to be effective. i’ll always hold that it’s on you to pass on the knowledge you possess to others in whatever ways may work, and you’ll have to find some ways don’t work before you find one that does. mao, for all the criticisms i have of him, articulates this well in a lot of his writing.
