Hot take: the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is actually pretty solvable in a way that both countries exist and recognize the other

Except that they’re both hellbent on ethnically cleansing each other

Hamas disarms and Israel fully withdraws from Gaza. Internationally monitored and verified. The Israeli settlements stop. The far right can kick sand. Land swaps happen in exchange for already existing Israeli settlements. A fund is created by Arab states and Israel to compensate displaced families since 1948

Any violation by either side results in immediate suspension of economic/diplomatic guarantees until they behave again

End result: a connected Palestinian state with freedom of movement and an economy, and Israeli integration into the region

Hamas MUST disarm for this to work. Anything else and we’re just jerking ourselves off

Yeah that’s where the problem is. You could have a previous Israeli government do that. Not the current one though. They had PM Yitzhak Rabin murdered for trying to make peace. The currently Israeli government are the people opposed to every withdrawal and every peace deal. They’re the farthest right government Israel has ever had. Even the gov of 20 years ago is completely different.

Hamas is unlikely to disarm because of how Israel took advantage of the PLO disarming. Hamas is only in power because Palestinians perceived the PLO making peace as a betrayal because Israel immediately started colonizing the West Bank with impunity. Had Israel respected the PLO’s sovereignty, maybe it would be different.

The current Israeli government has consistently pledged that they will never allow a Palestinian state to exist

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 but it sadly didn’t change anything 😔
