It’s because Christian-based laws have always slithered their way into our democracy, regardless of separation of church and state. Within the last few years, it’s been on full blast and gone full extreme. Trying to ban gay marriage, banning abortion, eroding trans rights, requiring the Bible to be taught in schools. And the group that opposes these laws at every turn is the left. Because they have no logical support for these laws other than their faith, it’s easier to just feign persecution.
Totally! There’s plenty of religious people with those views as well and leftists don’t have a problem with those folks. We have a problem with the folks who use their religion to justify hatred for others. The group that does that the most in the US is the evangelical right.
