Any definition I give you will end in you attempting to call me uneducated, so no, I won’t be providing a definition bc we should all be educated enough to know. What I will do is provide one of his policies: he is pushing to make the subway system free to use by taxing all new Yorkers WORTH over 1mil (that’s including all owned assets, not just salary/income). I don’t know the exact statistic but I’d go as far as to say most New Yorkers are worth over 1 mil since the cost of living is so high.
I never intended to call you uneducated, I’m just trying to have a conversation. He’s not trying to make the subway free from what I can tell, though he does want to use empty subway space for homeless outreach and support. He is trying to make the bus system fare-free, so you’re correct in principle. He is trying to tax those worth over 1 mil extra, that is true, but that accounts for only the top 1% of people in the city. If anything, these policies will help support New Yorkers
Sorry, I’m usually met with hostility when people ask cornering questions like that, I’m sure you under what this app can be like lol. 1% seems a little unrealistic but I haven’t looked into the statistics, can you provide me with your sources so I can cross reference whatever research I do? I’m at work rn so I don’t have time to look into it but it’s on my mind for when I clock out. Also keep in mind, that is just a single policy of many with similar principles.
