Child marriage is legal in most states. The USA (and western nations in general) very much have a culture of rape, pedophilia, and sexualization of minors. Maybe we clean house before we start talking about immigrants that bring these traits with them

We kill pedophiles in the United States. If a guy tries to marry a 9 year old (Looking at you Iran/Afghanistan) there aren’t many places in the USA that the police can get there to arrest him before the locals drag him out into the woods and put a bullet in the back of his skull. I’m told there’s cults that still do it. But they hide out in the woods… which makes it easier for the locals cuz they don’t have to drag the guy as far into the wood line.

Conservatives marry children all the time in the United States. It’s conservatives and republicans who have voted to keep chill marriage legal. It’s republicans who removed beastiality from disqualification of FBI agents. the United States has a pedophile in the Oval Office. We have had 0 arrests from the Epstein files other than Maxwell. Try again.

You’re right about the arrests other than Maxwell. That’s unacceptable. If you would be kind enough to point me in the direction on something I can look up for the republicans voting to keep child marriage legal, I don’t doubt you, but I might be able to get some traction on removing them from their positions.

I’m a bit split on the idea the government has any jurisdiction whatsoever since the history of the government getting involved marriage laws was originally to prevent interracial marriage in the south (which again, I don’t really care either way as long as people aren’t raping children) but since it believes it is the arbitrator of marriage and people are still going along with that, a ban on child marriage federally seems like the way to go.

Republicans have also stalled child marriage bans on a federal level. While I am also weary of federal intervention in marriage for the very reason you gave I think when it comes to children it’s a valid action. Children have long been abused and neglected in favor of parental rights. That’s a BS argument.

Well to avoid the federal government (or state governments) believing the children are some kind of capitalist asset to be grown into a good little worker and shoved in a cubical/whatever job, we need some kind of family structure guiding children that isn’t the government. What do you suggest as a solution outside of federal legislation? Or what would you find as an acceptable interim solution?

Cuz the federal legislation thing is doable. But I’m not sure that will completely nix the culprits.

I don’t think federal legislation is not the answer. It’s gonna take work on local, state, and federal levels along with general cultural change. We have a culture of sexualization of children, the Epstein cabal has also had immense cultural influence in our nation and thus globally. Parental rights have always stood out to me as a dog whistle for dehumanizing children. Yes they aren’t fully mentally developed and thus need immense guidance and support but we need to treat them like humans.

Codifying and enforcing Child Rights would be a good place to start. https://www.unicef.org/child-rights-convention/convention-text-childrens-version

We have enforcement mechanisms and we have law enforcement we should use them to defend children.

They all seem like good things but there’s a litmus test I use when considering codification: “Would your average police officer in the United States be able to remember this, and enforce this accurately/justly without overstepping or abusing the law written around this topic?” So it seems like an outstanding foundation, but I bet unicef will be able to distill these concepts more into whatever is at the core of them.

Like most people have trouble remembering a phone number, 42 things about what children deserve has to be more… there has to be something in the essence of those 42 that can be brought out.

I mean you don’t have to memorize all 42, I’m sure most people don’t have all 36 human rights memorized if any. Same for the bill of rights or any law really. Also it is kinda LEO’s job to know the law 😅😭😂 but I do get what you mean.

lol I could tell you some stories before college about my coworkers in that field and while my guys were more on the “brilliant” end of the intelligence/capability spectrum, we had one mission… and the way they wrote laws around that was still so convoluted even some of the best and brightest would just run on instinct.
