9/11 is not as important as old heads think it was. Yes things happened. Yes it was bad and sad. Yes things were different before and changed after. History is full of such events Most of the energy around it is propaganda and weaponization of a tragedyThe Patriot Act is what made America what it is today. Everything that’s happening right now can be directly drawn back to 9/11 and the resulting coverage and political weaponization of it effectively obliterating the American psyche. The actual event was relatively minor compared to what it spawned.
Yeah nah this was the worst attack on American soil in American history. Hell to this day we still have people dying as a result of the attacks just look at the files Mamdmahi released yesterday. Also what Jon Stewart has been fighting for, all the shit that was spewed in the air after the towers fell has had far lasting consequences
I’d like to argue that it’s still very important to the families and friends who lost their loved ones but sure.. aside from that I think it’s important bc it showed the last time our nation was united and the more we forget the further away we distance ourselves from that (clearly u can see how divided our nation is by the president who doesn’t take 9/11 seriously at all)
“The actual event is relatively minor compared to what it spawned” is what I agree with most. I mean, I think we should take a step back and recognize how these processes began long before 9/11, and that that event was orchestrated and used as another step in that process. In the grand scheme, it’s pretty shortsighted to point to a single thing like 9/11 or another event (ex: the election of Ronald Reagan) when in reality it has been a systematic process for generations.
