This is funny to me because most conservatives I know dislike him simply because he was a democrat

I think most conservatives respect Bernie Sanders for being a populist on the left, most people who support the Republican Party still are likely right wing populists severely loyal to the Trump wings, so it makes sense they wouldn’t hate someone on the left who cares about the same issues they claim too.
