That’s a centrist position that could easily be held by those on the center left and center right. You can be a centrist on operational (economic, budget, services) policy and still recognize the tolerance paradox regarding human rights. It’s those on the political extremes that call for the death of others.

Centrist doesn’t mean spineless, unless you’re referring to the group of US Overton window centrists who are actually bigots, but most people are fairly centrist and not like those people. We’re just being polarized beyond belief and forgetting that.

centrist positions on those issues can be summarized as letting poor people die because helping people is too expensive. centrism will always side with fascism, because you value capital over liberty, and fascism might threaten liberty but it doesn’t threaten capital.

centrism absolutely means spineless. severe problems require drastic solutions. you can’t compromise productively with evil people who want to destroy the country.

what context? we’ve got an immense mountain of evidence essentially screaming that the choice is either ditching capitalism or literally going extinct. meanwhile centrists will fawn over climate agreements with no enforcement provisions that aim for targets so high that billions of people will have their homes rendered uninhabitable.
