That was the most milquetoast critique of the Democratic Party I’ve seen in months. It is both correct, and obviously true. What’s your goal here man? Do you want another Kamala Harris? You want another person entirely disinterested in change? Because if that’s the case, what you want is to lose.

i find this an amusing time to point this out, given the whole bubble talk. idk though, the US proved that it can just bailout things that get “too big to fail” in 2008. perhaps we keep nebulously drifting until something finally triggers global conflict

You should glaze China’s solar industry more while ignoring their coal consumption. It’s funny when you do that.

upvote 0 downvote
🦧
Anonymous replying to -> ___joker__ 2w

i should, because we still consume coal AND the US produces half the emissions as China, with a QUARTER of the population. you should be critical of the American tariffs, that began under Trump 1 and were maintained through the Biden admin, which artificially inflates the cost of solar and EVs in the American market. not very committed to free trade or environmental policy tbh, just whatever benefits American capital

Half the emissions? I didn’t know 4.8 was half of 12.6. And yes, we do tariff Chinese EVs and solar…why would we not do that? You’re aware that China is an American adversary…right? Their government views us the same way.

And uh…yeah…that’s how economies work there bud! You WANT your capital to do well and your adversaries to not do well. Thats how currency and buying power functions! Unless you prefer the the ol’ snatch and grab for resources strategy.

Anonymous replying to -> selene_vespra 2w

Sort of. Chinese EVs aren’t banned, just tariffed to the point that selling them isn’t technically worth it. The Huawei shit is tricky. I think it can be called a technical “ban” but it’s just so many restrictions that they can’t reasonably function in the US.

No one gives a shit about the environment or emissions anymore. The main topic right now is affordability for most Americans. It’s fine to critique some Dem platforms, but if all you do is find yourself critiquing Dem platforms…it’s kind of obvious you’re a shithead.

The politicians, sure. But not the voters. I don’t yet really understand what drives people hoping for like, a Kamala round two run. She won’t win, man. She can’t win. And not just because America is racist and sexist, which they are, but because Kamala thinks she’s ENTITLED to the presidency. It’s obvious in the way she talks, and acts. It’s obvious because of how comfortable she is staring the American people dead in the face and saying: “You know Joe Biden? I’m gonna be EXACTLY like him.”

Anonymous replying to -> ___joker__ 2w

mind you, solar and EVs would be much more affordable if not for the tariffs, but yk you said it yourself, Democrats serve the interests of capital before they do their constituents. perhaps lift the tariffs and force American automakers to compete rather than enabling them to artificially raise the price of vehicles

No one is “hoping” for a Kamala round two lol. No one even brought her up. The only Dem that is essentially making it clear that they’ll be going for a presidential run is Newsom. Even then, it’s so early that anything can happen from now until 2027-2028.

Not to mention, she just vanished. She lost to a fascist in a race she could’ve easily won by just leaning SLIGHTLY more populist, even if she didn’t mean it. But the idea of even being perceived as more left wing or more interested in fundamental change was so noxious to her that she WILLINGLY LOST. Then she just left. For six months. Not a word. Now she’s back, what, shilling a book? Gearing up for another shot at it? You don’t deserve it!

NAFTA hurt the Midwest, but it didn’t kill the industry. This critique has been made time and time again and most Dems recognize it now. There should have been a quality shift away from those jobs for Midwesterners in those factories instead of being left high and dry. That being said, you’re arguing for the EXACT same thing for wanting Chinese EVs to compete with American EVs. I don’t see you asking for China to move BYD manufacturing plants to the US

I guess.. Idk. I’m more amenable to Boycotts and strikes than I once was, because I saw it work with conservatives and then I saw it work again with us and Target. But like, mostly they haven’t worked. Mostly they have just been ways for lefties to signal to other lefties that they’re lefties. Which isn’t in and of itself a bad thing, but doesn’t really help the whole country exploding thing. So what makes something like the target and bud light boycott work when we make no ground with others
