You picked Waco? Really? I’m not mad, just disappointed. Ruby Ridge and Rainbow Farms were RIGHT there on the table, but you picked Waco.

Average waco debate- "its ok to firebomb 83 women and children to death when they support an obscure religion" "you belong in a psych ward"

“Obscure religion” and it’s a pedophile’s personal cult. Jesus Christ, Koresh defenders are just the dumbest fucking people on the planet. There was absolutely mishandling of that operation (tear gas should not be used in enclosed spaces, and isn’t anymore because of Waco) and a lot of needless loss of life, but I guess that’s why you shouldn’t lock women and children in the compound you’re firing at law enforcement from.

Forgot to mention that they weren't there for the pedophilia, never substantiated those claims, and never found the guns they were after either. I wonder what motive the media might have to skew this story in the government's favor?

Brother he had 14 year old girls he called his wives, openly, the one survivor of the cult who escaped says he was a pedophile. Lemme guess, you support President “Epstein’s Best Friend” too

Ok sure, pedophilia is bad. Maybe they should have been going after that?

No, like I said, the tear gas in the building was a mistake. And one that future ATF and FBI policy rectified, they don’t use tear gas indoors anymore, specifically because of Waco. I think they should’ve just put one between Koresh’s eyes and been done with it, but of course then you gotta deal with the clearly insane and heavily armed “men” who sold him their daughters that are backing him up.

I don't see how an ATF raid supposedly based on firearms that ends up with the death of 83 women and children is supposed to somehow be equivalent to fighting pedophilia either

If they wanted to stop him from being a pedophile, why didn't they investigate that?

Well the pedophilia wasn’t the pretext, that’s just one of the gruesome details we found out about later, after Koresh locked all those people in his compound, refused multiple offers to get the women and children out, and used them as bargaining chips in what could only be called a hostage situation. Any hostage situation where the hostages die is a tragedy, but the best way to keep that from happening is to not take 83 people hostage.

I think he's a fucking psycho but that shouldn't deny him or the people surrounding him the human right to not die in a fire under an unlawful raid

The pedophilia allegations were actually pretextual to the raid too (6 month investigation in 1992), feds just didn't touch that one and it was only investigated by Texas CPS

I’m with OP here, I think there’s plenty of good examples of gun control being an excuse for state violence. I think Waco specifically is a shitty example that’s not gonna change any minds, because yeah the crazies in the pedo cult went down with their pedo leader, as crazies in a pedo cult often do. Absolutely awful stuff there, but not quite as damning on the state as Ruby Ridge or the MOVE bombing (also pictured) because everyone kinda shrugs when they hear a cult died, that’s what cults do.

Ruby ridge there were actual arguments to the wife holding a weapon, the son aiming at Marshals, etc. Here they just fucking firebombed an entire compound with plenty of women and kids in there

When was the last time a crazy pedophile cult didn’t end in mass death?

Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

They didn’t firebomb the place though, they used tear gas and flashbangs, which in an enclosed space can be incendiary, but they didn’t purposefully use incendiary munitions the way “firebomb” would imply

So it wasn't a politically motivated shooting, but everyone died because Koresh was a "crazy cult leader". Got it.

I mean you got me there, it's either supporting pedophilia or supporting the death of 83 women and children in an unlawful raid. There is absolutely no middle ground in which you could condemn both

Just to be clear though, you think they were just in raiding the compound without sound evidence, shooting in through a window while on a swinging rapel rope where target acquisition cannot occur and you are blind firing towards an unknown crowd , and you think the FBI should not have even attempted to arrest Karesh after the raid and should have instead killed him and everyone else there (justified by the pedophilia they apparently didn't even know about yet)?
