MJ is the objectively correct answer

Beatles. Early stuff is fun little poppy tunes, but when you get to about Rubber Soul and beyond they changed so much that it’s hard to even describe it. From a lyrical standpoint, instrumental standpoint, and production standpoint they absolutely changed everything Yes, Elvis did a lot. But also he was essentially just the gateway for white people to get exposed to an art form already done by black artists. MJ was amazing, but even he was inspired by The Beatles

… MJ right? Idk if anyone will ever reach that level of stardom ever again. It was just the perfect storm to make him the king.

The Beatles weren’t just musicians they were audio recording geniuses. Their technical achievements long before computers could do this was unheard of

Hendrix actually robbed. Beatles-style pop didn’t really take off besides the Rolling Stones and Panic! at the Disco’s Pretty Odd. Hendrix had a guitar style replicated to this day and a chord named after him that wiggles its way into every genre like a tapeworm

Beatles is another fair option. Elvis was big, don’t get me wrong, but not like the other two. Plus he stole a lot of that in comparison to Mikey and the Beatles

They basically invented pop music as we know it and the boy band too

Like go listen to Strawberry Fields Forever. Then come back to me and tell me another song that sounds like it from before or since that has also made it to #1 on the charts

MMT isn’t my fav but it does need more credit. My fav is the White Album followed by either Abbey Road or Revolver

Abbey road is the one for me. It’s fucking perfect, except for that Maxwell’s silver hammer song but even that one is fun

Maxwells Silver Hammer has grown on me, it’s a bop. My fav from Abbey Road is I Want You. Time seems to stop with it as they just loop the riff at the end while Paul and Ringo are popping the fuck off if you listen closely

I’m a drummer as well as a bass player, and Ringo is the dream drummer. Find a song where he either overplayed or underplayed. It’s impossible. Drumming is about serving the song, not being flashy

Also, their production was genuinely brilliant the more you learn about it I’m getting into technical territory, but they only had four tracks to work with when recording. So what they did during Sgt Pepper is record on four, then mix them to mono and put that on track one of a different tape. Then they had three more tracks. Mix those to mono along with the initial track and put that on track one of another tape. And they just layered the whole thing. They had like twenty tracks on that album

Yea the multi track tape shit they did was nuts. They even played the tapes backwards for stuff like Tomorrow Never Knows and layered that in with the rest of the tracks

Yeah like out of all the artists you listed here, it’s The Beatles. Ik some people are jaded due to how their albums are always ranked best of all time or some shit, but the more you learn about them the more you realize why. From 1965 onwards the stuff they did is groundbreaking from every perspective

Their raw talent didn’t carry over into business tho. They were taken advantage of after their manager Brian Epstein passed away very young. He was truly the 5th Beatle

Beatles: *write an insanely good album in an unusual style* Hendrix, the day after it came out: “IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY, WHEN SGT PEPPER TAUGHT THE BAND TO PLAY”

Anonymous replying to -> #6 10w

Nah the fifth Beatle was George Martin. Without him the band has no string arrangements, no way to get their ideas onto tape, no groundbreaking mixes, and the band themselves admitted he was like a musical father for them

Hendrix was amazing on his own, but the secret to his music was Mitch Mitchell. Brilliant drummer who is the only person in the world who could keep up with the wild shit Hendrix was doing. Listen to Manic Depression and bro is outright a jazz drummer

Absolutely. That’s how I feel about A7X too. M Shadows is an amazing vocalist and Synyster Gates is one of the best guitarists in our generation, but The Rev really put all the pieces together
