Yeah no completely depends on the industry in question + this is a dumb take when presented as a blanket statement

I know someone who was mad about Rise Against posting for pride last year. Meanwhile, 15 years ago, they wrote the bar “And too much blood has flown from the wrists, of the children shamed for those they chose to kiss.” This stupid motherfucker asked me if they changed it

Politics is quite literally everywhere. It is entwined into everything. People who don’t realize that are dumb

But I’d love to know which industry you think politics shouldn’t be in

Banking for one, like literally any service that people universally rely on should be neutral. Insurance, your ISP, etc.

These are still political things through their existence. Some of the oldest political controversies in our country are about the banking system. The very existence of something like health insurance is a political issue. Internet is directly impacted by government infrastructure policy and space exploration.

Right but none of these companies should be allowed to lobby in my opinion, and I care more about these companies staying out of politics than I do others, since they are relied upon by essentially everyone

I do think they shouldn’t be allowed to lobby. Particularly because they operate services that in many cases should be for the public good, and their lobbying will interfere with efforts to decrease prices or create public alternatives.

yes, but that’s still political, you need politics to protect the individual from the corporation as the power imbalance makes any other route unrealistic
