So what to do

Maybe that’s what’s best for our country. You ever think of that?

I never understood this whole fascist argument. Maybe like the ultra far right sure, but again those guys fall so short in any sort of popularity contest to even be considered a threat. This kinda rhetoric really needs to stop. It just encourages more political violence. We all just need to put on our big boy pants, stop calling our peers communists or fascists, and figure this shit out.

I deplore violence as a means to an end, we need to vote people into office that actually have the balls to do something, most dems right now (if we’re being real) are complacent in whats happening right now because they lack the courage to stand up and do something about it

We actively have federal agents with minimal training kidnapping people who are here legally, often without any due process, we have mass shootings happening every damn day, and we have our government literally trying to pit the military against its own citizens Something has to change

Politicians need to be afraid of the people again, the people are the ones who hold the power (Once again I am actively saying I do not condone violence and I in-fact deplore using violence as a means to an end)

I dont use that word lightly, I am saying the things the far right are doing are literally bordering the line of fascism, and im happy to provide examples for you if you’d like

I’m happy to listen, but borderline doesn’t cut it. And define what you mean by far right as well.

Borderline absolutely cuts it, I think anyone should be concerned when our sitting president starts selling hats with 2028 mentioned on it while simultaneously talking about running again, I think its concerning that he’s constantly demonizing the left while trying to utilize the national guard to put the military in our cities, I find it concerning that some immigrants who are here legally (this doesnt apply to illegal immigrants) are being detained oftentimes without due process

Sometimes right off the very courtsteps where they’re following the process

I find it incredibly concerning that our president made attempts to suppress and control what the media can and cant air while strong arming other corporations into choosing what gets said, directly challenging the 1st amendment

Lastly in terms of authoritarian reaches I find it concerning that he would order a census at this time (which isnt normal) in texas in order to maintain seats

We define fascism as far right alternative to Authoritarianism, common signs of fascism often involve Scapegoating, Suppressing speech, and Centralizing executive authority

So far in last 3 weeks alone he’s done 2 of those 3 things, I am not calling our President a Fascist, however we absolutely need to recognize the signs of someone dragging our country in a fascist direction and show the proper reactions to someone who’s consistently violated the constitution since being in office and passing unlawful executive orders

First things first is everything you have mentioned besides the 2028 hat thing has been done by other administrations including Biden and Obama. I think we both agree neither of them are fascist. National guard was deployed to the most crime ridden cities which had zero effect on day to day life besides nicer streets. The whole FCC thing is a lie btw and ABC made a statement the FCC never threatened them with a shut down.

Neither Biden nor Obama ever once mentioned trying to run for a third term, if they did you would see the exact same reaction from me

The Texas census is purely for gerrymandering which has been going on for the past 200 years or so. I mean I’m still yet to see the connection to fascism

Nah I agree the third term shit is weird but not even Republicans would allow that to happen, it is literally the last thing im worried about

The connection is Gerrymandering is nothing short of Election Interference, its wrong when any side does it and any attempt to do so should be views as a political side making an attempt to seize control

Oh im not worried about it happening, civil war would literally break out, i’m just saying that talking about running for a third term should cause some alarm bells to ring in your head

Gerrymandering falls lightyears short of election interference lol, not tryna be rude but that’s a really silly thing to say. Take a gander at the Illinois congressional map when you get a chance. It’s just a part of the game and every single state does it, including blue states. And again not saying the third term shit didn’t ring an alarm, but it’s so insignificant that I quite literally couldn’t care less.

Gerrymandering is absolutely election interference, you’ll literally taking seats from one side to add to your own, I dont mean presidential election interference, I just mean that it IS election interference, also notice how I said that Gerrymandering on all sides was wrong regardless of where you fall politically? Although dems did try to ban it recently and not one rep voted with them on it

Again just part of the game. If the roles were reversed and we currently had a blue house, senate, and presidency, and California tried to redraw their congressional districts, Republicans would try to ban it and not a single dem would vote with them.

Except they tried to ban it 3 times, out of those 3 times only the first instance had a republican president, the instance I’m specifically speaking about happened in 2021 when Joe Biden was president, Not one republican senator voted to ban gerrymandering. This is not a matter of roles being reversed, this literally happened when Dems were in office twice

For reference in 2019 H.R.1 was introduced, in the House every republican voted no (the house was dem controlled) however in the senate which was controlled by Mitch McConnell he refused to bring it to a vote, this all happened when trump was president Later in March of 2021 (Under Biden) it was reintroduced and Passed again in the house with all 210 Republicans voting no, then when it reached the senate the republicans voted to filibuster to block the bill

Interesting wasn’t aware of that, thanks for the info. Still part of the game. Here’s the Illinois congressional map. Republicans don’t complain about it and Democrats would hurt if the map was changed. They can vote all they want, but they know they got their hand in the candy bowl too. Both sides equally gain an advantage from it and are equally guilty in employing it.

FINALLY in October of 2021 (also under Biden) was sent straight to the senate, and EVERY republican STILL voted no. So even when democrats held a majority (the presidency AND the house) they still tried to ban gerrymandering on a nationwide scale and EVERY republican voted against it MULTIPLE TIMES

Yes which is exactly why it should be banned, Gerrymandering on either side is just election interference flat out, its a scummy move and it needs to be banned already
