Coal miners are badass. A horrible profession for your health but the people that do it and make up those communities are tough mfers

iirc I don’t think it was coined by the miners but by the companies, and anti-union newspaper and political cartoons.

in part, yes! it was pushed by anti-union news sources but the miners had a moment of “wait that sounds hard as fuck” and adopted it themselves
