Nowadays, someone would think of this joke and use ai to make a picture. But someone, somewhere thought/heard of this pun, sat down, and DREW this. They crafted it with love and care. No machine could replicate this

People also hand craft ai art it’s not a one and done thing, you gotta craft and revise your prompt a few times try different models and techniques etc. then there’s also the work if you want to run it on your own computer

Just so you know, in the 1990s there were a lot of artists who believed any art that was made using a computer wasn’t “real art”.

If ai art is so insanely easy and worthless then let’s see you sit down and work on ai art. Also; you know Disney and pretty much all film studios are using ai assisted work at this point?

Im a video game producer and I’ve spent years doing pixel art, 3d modeling, pretty much every aspect of production. When it comes to actually getting stuff done, you’re going to want to make it faster and more efficient. Why would I spend 30 hours drawing a single character when I could have AI do a better job in 30 mins? At a certain point there’s only so much time in the day and your life. Be grateful that animation and graphic design just got so much easier now with the aid of ai tools.

sure, in specific instances like that it can be useful, but you've got people out here that are generating shit in 3 seconds and claiming it's their own blood sweat and tears while there are actual artists struggling for attention to their real human art

And modern Disney movies are sooo good, right? I’m glad your industry is easier but let’s not act like you aren’t copping out

I worked for 8 years on an indie game that sold less then 200 dollars in profit at the end of it, I know what it’s like to be an unappreciated artist. Unfortunately commercial success doesn’t care about how much you struggle. It’s about the product. AI art is just the latest tool but the struggling artist has always been an issue, even before computers

Sincerely don’t understand why you think ai assisted art tools is “copping out”. What next, anyone whose drawing on a computer instead of physical paper is a sell out? Anyways, being deceitful and passing ai art as human art is its own issue. But which is it? AI art is so crappy that it’s obviously bad? But now you’re saying it’s good enough to put struggling artists out of business? either learn how to utilize modern tools or you don’t. That’s it. AI is not replacing anyone. Just enhancing

why did you make up an argument to seem like i was contradicting myself. i never said ai art was obviously bad, it's obviously not if it can be passed off as talented human art. and how can you say ai is not replacing anyone when people can now just use generative ai instead of paying artists for their work

Ok earlier you said it’s not hard to craft ai art. Then you posted a picture that you claimed took 3 minutes and it’s super easy. How about this as a challenge. Recreate the original image in ai art. Let me know how many renditions and attempts it takes to recreate the image of the stoner ponies. Hint: you can upload the image and convert it into a text prompt with Canva and then use that text prompt to reuse on an image generator. The point is that “ai art” is a skill category of itself.

Anyone can just create a random oil painting in 3 minutes with ai art. Sure. But when you want to make specific detailing? Hyperspecific scenes? “No, his hand should be angled up a bit more, and with anger in his eyes” AI art cannot do that alone. That’s when a real artist combined AI assisted imagery to enhance workflow for production. It’s not black and white “one person uses AI slop, and other person works tirelessly using traditional art!” The reality is a mixed workflow utilizing ai TOOL

Sorry if I misunderstood you earlier when. I “made up an argument” But AI art is not replacing artist. AI is primarily used to cut down on time consumption with concept art, and tedious things like rendering animation in big budget studios. Ai isn’t replacing people. People are just using it to make their work faster. Overall the consumer will benefit from this because animators will a have more production capability.

Back to square one Concept art has been elevated due to AI. I’ve worked with a dozen concept artists over the past decade 🙄 Production is elevated due to the allowance of AI tools assisted workflow. That’s it. Concept artist have to make use of this as part of their work. Who do you think is making the concept art? The concept artist. Obviously. The concept artist is going to utilize AI tools or else fall behind other concept artists. If you use photoshop you’re utilizing ai tools.
