As it currently stands, the new law will effectively ban most hemp products currently on the market by changing the federal definition of âhemp.â The new definition of âhempâ will exclude certain categories of hemp products, such as those containing synthetic cannabinoids or more than trace amounts of THC and other intoxicating cannabinoids.
The hemp ban doesnât take effect for another year, many republicans who voted in favor did so to re open the government as it wasnât worth not doing such just because of the language regarding hemp. Many have already spoken in favor of regulation, not a ban, and aim to change the verbiage before the year is up and it goes into effect.
i mean we already did a prohibition for alcohol⊠it didnât work AT ALL. the same will happen with this. if u know people who sell illegally, u will be fine. but itâs also stuff with HEMP specifically. so like most cbd which helps a lot of people (connect old people with your plugs for cbd BAHAHAHHA)
Still doesnât warrant the fed getting involved in what states already regulate pretty effectively. Youâre thinking of personal health, but if we all cared about health no one would smoke/drink/snort/eat fast food/drink soda/etc. All this bill does is close jobs that were created through the farm bill, screw over rural marijuana growers, and inflates the black market again. No way you genuinely think this bill is a good idea, numb nuts đ
What are you talking about? When did I say I want black market stuff? Youâre just making up lies now because youâre in a corner. Stop being intellectually dishonest. I want real legal cannabis to be the norm, not this fake stuff. Itâs honestly laughable how pathetic your being đđđ
Yeah I donât think thatâs the case at all. I think what it was is that the current administration had a different purpose for the bill in 2018 and when they saw that people were abusing the law via a loophole to push dangerous toxins, they said we should ban this stuff until more research can be done
Yes, we all want regular THC to be legal. But this ban on its derivatives is not a step forward, itâs multiple steps back guy. Iâm not being intellectually dishonest by pointing out what will happen if this bill passes. You just canât accept that this bills adverse effects on the market will bring higher health risks than letting states continue to regulate and research THC-A. Because guess what, when they ban THC-A, NO research can be doneâŠ
Why do you want fake shit to be legal is my question? Why not advocate for legal stuff? In my opinion, this is a step forward towards legalizing cannabis. Think about it like this⊠if people could get the same effect from THC-A as they could from cannabis, why legalize cannabis? And yes, you were being dishonest because you were claiming something that I never advocated for
Because, advocating for the fake stuff IS advocating for the real deal. I live in Indiana, for example, and only have THC-A available in the smoke shops here. It has curbed illegal activity here, and less drug trafficking. It has also decreased the amount of marijuana charges that go in and out of the courts. By this bill occurring, prosecutions will rise, my and thousands of otherâs access to marijuana will memorialized, leading to (again) increased black market activity and risk.
That still doesnât make it better bro⊠just because your state has their own laws and regulations doesnât mean they should allow something thatâs worse for you dude. Think man think, is putting harmful chemicals in your body that has little to no regulation really worth it? Just because you want to get high? I donât understand why you want to advocate for fake things instead of pushing for legal cannabis. Trust me, I live in TN and I understand the frustration but itâs not worth it.
I live in TN, trust me I know the struggle. But I understand my opinion is not popular on this page but trust when I say, I care about people and this will actually help more than you think. States like MN, MO, Ohio all essentially banned this shit and what happened after? Legal weed is now in their states
I mean, clearly you donât know fucking history because historically, when you banned something that majority of people still want they will still get it, but it will be much more dangerous than the original thing they banned. Two good examples are abortions (when it was banned a lot of women were dying) and alcohol (killed people when mating correctly exploded blindness strokes)
Yes, there should be more regulation, but banning a not necessarily harmful option is not regulation. This is because many politicians have money in the alcohol business. They are losing revenue and would like to skew that back to them. They canât make money if the younger generations arenât buying alcohol.
Which is why most people will advocate for legal stuff. This isnât rocket science my guy. Why do you think states are starting to legalize it more and more? Why do you think they took away the 18th amendment? Itâs because people realize that if something is legal, it can be regulated. And in control.
Only issue with the federal legalization is the immense stress it will put on the water grid, especially CAâs while itâs still in a drought. Everyone will want their weed from CA, which as is experiences hot and intense weather alongside very minimal precipitation and rainfall. Marijuana is a very water-demanding crop too. Itâs a problem I have no clue how to address because I agree it should be federally legalized but there would have to be immense restrictions country wide.
Youâre actually slow if u think THCA flower is different from any weed that youâll ever buy in a rec dispensary. Yeah thereâs shit chemical bud but thatâs cause itâs unregulated and ppl wanna make a quick buck. Some of the best weed Iâve ever had was shipped to me through the mail as federally legal âTHCA flowerâ. I donât touch D8 or THCP etc, THAT is synthetic. Why is getting rid of safer options to alcohol like thc seltzers and gummies that you can pick up at the liquor store a bad thing?
In 2018 it was âlegalizedâ. You can buy amazing bud labeled as THCA flower, yeah some is ass and grown terrible but there is also growers making stuff better than most rec markets in the whole country. The issue with the bill is the intoxicating âhempâ market has been given 7 years to grow to more than 28 billion dollars with a lot of honest working people and thatâs all being stripped away
âanother yearâ in a month and a half 2026 will be here. also a lot repubs never wanted to meet with dems one on one. they said they wanted to, but even after trump canceled the meeting they were supposed to have, repubs didnât want to speak with dems. also this shit was written by the fuck ass turtle mitch WHO FELL OVER NOTHING WHILE WALKING AND THEN MADE A WEIRD NOISE AFTER HE GOT UP!!!!!!!!!
opening the gov doesnât help people getting healthcare from the gov. dems wanted to make sure that while there was a decision being made about health care, that americans would be able to have that care u til a resolution was made. thatâs not a lot to ask for. u will prob say âwell dems should have come up with a planâ. what if i told u that they did, but repubs didnt want to listen. ALSO TRUMP HAS NEVER HAD A PLAN FOR HEALTH CARE HE LITERALLY SAID HE HAD A FUCKING âCONCEPT OF A PLANâ!! WTF
Yeah I understand the language being passed is a huge win for bitch McConnell, but it doesnât take effect for a full 365 days from nov 13. We do have a year. Kentucky has the largest hemp market in the entire us, and people like Rand Paul are huge advocates for safe regulation, not bans. Also your argument stems from your distain for trump and the republicans why donât you just look at the issue at hand I am no way in favor of the ban dude
that didnât mean shit when it came to the hyundai plant in georgia. if regulations mattered, we would be more concerned about how can get a gun in this country. what should i, a student at MSU, have to go through a shooting during my freshman year of college? if regulations mattered to them, we would prob be saver.
You are a shallow human being to label all republicans as âthemâ, and blame the actions of a few individuals on the majority of the countryâs voters. Ppl like YOU are the reason we canât progress because compromise doesnât exist to you. Dems over regulate to the point of encouraging single parent households for tax purposes. Thereâs issues everywhere but u need to look at things for what they are and not bring up a bunch of irrelevant shit just because you can tie that to the idea of regulations
if i was looking at all of this from a traditional pov, id say you could be central. BUT IN THE POLITICAL CLIMATE THAT WE ARE IN means that there is only far right and far left. there is no longer a middle ground. u just have to accept that. i also can validate this BC IM DOING A RESEARCH PAPER ON THE PARTIES!!!!!
do you know what solves this problem? making assault rifles illegal, having a mental health questionary every year, AND everyone having a fucking therapist. if itâs the unstable people, then should we implement laws that make it harder to get a gun? example: WHY CAN I BUY A FUCKING GUN AT GODDAMN WALMART WITH JUST A FUCKING ID?!?!?!?!!!!!!
Cool congrats on ur student debt but as a person who didnât vote because both options were too radical for me, I know there is a middle ground or at least somewhere close to it. You are helping fuel the radical rage of current American politics with your views, doing nothing to contribute to the actual wellbeing of the country and accepting your radicalism as GOOD instead of doing anything to bring ppl together.
so walmart shouldnât be able to sell guns. i should have to take a mental health test every year to PROVE that i am stable enough to own a gun. you are basically agreeing with me on this. take assault rifles away, regular rifles for hunting and pistols and such for whatever are fine. there must be more regulation around guns now-a-days
this might be the dumbest fucking response to what i said EVER!!!! at least MAGA can give me actual points. WE DONT LIVE IN A MULTIPLE PARTY SYSTEM!!!!! we are just a 2 party system. that is because of how far back our democracy goes. but not voting should NEVER be something that u are proud of, unless both candidates are planning on making the country an authoritarian state. you are just ignorant to everything and everyone around you that is affected by this administration
By not outcasting the other side, by not labelling their honest opinions as inherently radical, by not gaslighting and projecting useless info into convos? Those are a few to start with and it makes it way easier to have honest conversations about anything with anyone. The moment you throw in other barley related stuff thatâs you attacking the argument from a biased point of view and will automatically make the other person defensive and seemingly RADICAL
Just cause thereâs only two parties in government doesnât mean I have to succumb to the views of either party, I can think however the fuck I want and youâre not gonna tell me to vote just because âitâs my right and my voice mattersâ yeah I know it does but if I believe either option to be bad why would I want to have a say in deciding that? I love America and I want the best for it, but I didnât like either options, simple.
All of your claims of this political climate is again because of people like you, making the climate hostile. I am fully aware Iâm attacking u though rn and itâs bc Iâm pissed off that both sides refuse to get along unless the other gives in, both are becoming increasingly authoritarian and pushing what makes America what it is to its limits. The fact that two people on different sides are agreeing on me just being âignorantâ puts on clear display the refusal to see a world where we get along.
you are completely valid in how u feel. but as someone who wanted to vote for a different party for president, there are some elections that u have to choose the best out of the 2. its never a good thing that we have to deal with this, but if u want what if best, and its a very important election, u must read on policies on both candidates that are projected to win. this is how the US works. i do not like it at all, but kamala would have been so much better than the man who fell asleep on tv
kinda of funny that as someone who VERY LEFT isnât pissed off by this conversation, but someone who is central is pissed. idk how i make shit hostile if i just support my morals and dont back down on them like the 8 cucks that say they are dems. i care about my fellow americans and immigrants. republicans and democrats are not authoritarian. MAGA and the alt-left(which is making a full circle to christian values), are what we should be afraid of. alt-left is the full on cancel culture btw
Iâm not pissed about the topic Iâm pissed off at u being ignorant to your blantant red herring fallacyâs with reference to certain topics and drawing connections between things that donât exist, like I keep repeating that type of behavior is driving the radicalism of the country
U brick how could unbiased news sites possibly exist in âtodayâs political climateâ. You donât even adhere to your own beliefs consistently, grow a spine. And will your paper be published in a scholarly journal with peer reviews from other phd students?? I spy with my little eye another fallacy, appeal to authority!
I know thereâs needs to be, and I didnât say I agree with how the trump administration is going about deporting illegal immigrants. I did not vote for trump and I explicitly said I donât like his policies. BUT, I can still say donât sneak into a country if you donât want to have the risk of repercussions, constitutional or not.
⊠no dumbass. Thatâs what happens AFTER due process. You actually wouldnât even know for a fact (with the way our judicial system works) if someone is a legal citizen, or an undocumented immigrant until after due process. Because thatâs sorta a big part of what due process is. However, youâre clearly dumb as rocks and believe in make believe pedophile (Trump) propaganda
U fucking donut if you lived in a good legal state where they denote ALL cannabinoids on the packaging maybe youâd have an easier time understanding because clearly you havenât done any research. I only say THCA flower because thatâs what it needs to be called to be federally legal hemp, even though it is the exact same chemical product youâll buy in dispensaries. All cannabis bud is THCA flower, not THC flower, straight THC flower doesnât even exist.
Clearly youâre the donut. THC-A flower is just hemp that is under 0.3% before heating. Thatâs not the same thing. Youâre just talking out of your ass. If they were the same thing, both would be regulated the same way. Clearly they are not. Maybe read a bit into what your talking about before commenting some ignorant shit you British twat
You know why you have to cook weed in the oven before turning it into edibles? To turn the THCA into THC, because all weed has always been THCA flower, the only difference in the last 7 years is verbiage in the farm bill created a threshold that makes your âhempâ go to straight dispo weed after a 0.001% difference in THCA content. There is literally proof of growers selling the exact same bud in state dispensaries AND shipping it across the country as THCA flower.
When your dispo weed says 24% thc that is a CONVERSION they did because THCA converts to thc at a rate of %87.7/g meaning the THC number you are reading is a solved math equation for the POTENTIAL thc content in your bud, they do that because the vast majority of cannabanoids are THCA before you burn it.
