I work in a hospital and was so nervous for my onboarding drug testing. Turns out my hospital doesn't care about cannabis use & i haven't been drug tested since then

Once you get higher up they stop drug testing because they literally can’t afford to lose you <3

that shit is so stupid to me like they shouldn't be able to like get u for smoking some weed lol. like as long as ur not high on the job why shouldn't you be able to smoke after work, that's ur free time and none of their business. it's JUST WEED, it's like having a beer after work lol

What health care? I know with nursing if you get caught using pot at any point on a test you’ll lose your job and your nursing license

I’m in Indiana and luckily they don’t test for weed where I work (center desk assistant at an apartment) but they test for everything else

This is state specific btw. In my state, there’s nothing prohibiting nurses from smoking medicinally or recreationally.

My state is 100% legal medicinal and recreational. It is state specific, but majority work this way because it’s still illegal (schedule 1) at a federal level, jobs must ensure compliance at a state level, but also at a federal level IF they receive federal funding, like Medicare. Most healthcare facilities receive some form of federal funding and marijuana stays in your system so even off-day use being discovered would result in a lengthy legal battle. And obv can’t work any federal job either

Btw I think it’s BS it works like this and I do think a lot of states are changing their ways, next president in office or maybe even this one will probably drop it from schedule 1, & there was a court of appeals case that recently said a drivers license can’t be suspended simply because they had marijuana in their system which is why I said lengthy legal battle, you could probably get away with keeping your license and getting a slap on the wrist if something actually happened. AZ btw

That might be how it works in your state, but to be clear, there’s no requirement from the board to be sober in my state. So sure, hospitals can set their own standards to ensure federal compliance, but you cannot lose your license in my state for using marijuana.
