See they tried that and they found that none of the states would contribute economically if they were all essentially sovereign. Like we were getting clowned during the revolutionary war cause none of the states would give money. So we created the dual federalist system we use today where we have local state and federal governments with different tiers of power and responsibility— so now states contribute to the country equitably while being able to maintain the autonomy of specific policies

Lemme remind you alcohol, opioids, adderal and many many more are 100% fine and prescribed in many cases. They don’t care if you do drugs if they make money off it. They don’t like weed because it’s super easy to grow and make your own without the government getting their cut

alcohol isn’t the hardest to ferment either just a longer process, it was made illegal and people still did it- gov realized they’re losing out on the money/taxes involved with making places register for liquor licenses etc. so they ended the prohibition
