My boss sent me an email today that said:”X project turn out well. Good job. I was pleasantly surprised by your performance”. I told my parents how that 💩 was a backhanded compliment and my father goes: “ you just can’t be happy huh?”

Idk I work in a business where managers aren’t paying that much attention so them only closely narrowing down to pay attention to your projects occasionally in a months long span checks out though maybe yours is different. And people put their foot in their mouth all the time. I’d assume good intentions in absence of other signals
