1 year in and I’ve been told I’m underperforming… the industry I’m in and role I’m in is super demanding but I have no other options… my degree is meaningless as far as qualifications for better positions.

Noooo. Ugh that’s awful. I had a year long internship that didn’t lead to a full time position (it wasn’t supposed to), and then was unemployed for 6 months looking for solely marketing roles. Landed a job that was listed as marketing but is 70% sales :(

I even asked how much of the role would be sales in the interview, they couldn’t give me a % or an estimate. Day 1 of week 2 I get a document splitting my 40/hrs and it’s barely a media and marketing job 🫩

Yeah I’m in a ā€œmarketingā€ role also which is just a sales role at the end of the day… I don’t like selling but at least I have a year worth of knowledge on the product

What did you major in? There’s gotta be something that applies to your degree out there

Communications Broadcast/Journalism concentration… over saturated and ridiculously competitive job market.

That’s pretty transferable. Look into public relations, small news companies, sports brands
