I live in WI and it’s great here! Def do some research about the area before deciding. That’ll say if it’s cheap or not. Def cheaper than Texas tho.

Two major questions before I can answer: 1. How far is Wisconsin from your home state? Would visits be super difficult/expensive or relatively easy/cheap? 2. Would doing this cause relationships in your life to deteriorate/end? Like do you have a partner or close friends that you think you could lose if you did this?

I took an engineer job in MS starting at 74k/yr about eight years ago with no relations whatsoever in that state and it worked well for me. I was really able to build up my career there and keep expenses low without much to distract me and eventually leapt out after building it up to 124k/yr to take a bit of a pay cut for a remote position that an old boss recommended me for. I found my wife there too. So I personally found it beneficial to take a leap and move for a good job.

I see, well based on that context, if it were me making the decision, I think I’d do it. The pay sounds great and I would want to try to see if I could do it. I know it’d be hard to be away from family, but that’s just what I would do personally.

Yeah! The job is based in Madison so that’s the area but I’m working on research!
