The one thing that irritates me the most is when older co-workers talk to me as if I’m slow and don’t know how to do my job…

I felt this. I can’t stand co workers like that. Like I get we’re younger but that doesn’t mean we’re not smart enough to do a simple task. It makes me so angry.

I’m someone who is both still being mentored by older more experienced employees and sometimes trains newer (usually younger) employees. One thing I’ve realized is when I train, I don’t know what level of understanding is. So I tell them up front to lmk if they already know something but I also explain EVERYTHING so they don’t miss something because I didn’t tell them. From that experience I make sure to tell those above me when “I’m already familiar with x” so they know

Oh yeah, I agree with this. It’s different if you’re learning at a new job. But I’ve been at this one for over 5 years and the person that was talking to me as if I was slow and didn’t know how to do my job has been there less than a year…

This is a great way to put it. I’m perfectly fine with going over everything but when it gets so basic to the point where I’m asked if I know how to wash my hands that’s when it becomes a problem. Unfortunately that really happened at one of my previous jobs. Like I get she was training me but i don’t need to be trained on how to wash my hands when I’m in my 20s.
