My boss let me know today that she’s leaving the company in 2 weeks and while I’m really happy for her because the new job she took sounds great for her, it’s also so sad. I know most people wouldn’t think much of it, but I work at a really small company

Where culture and those relationships are really tight. I’ve been there almost a year and she drastically turned my life around. She’s been so influential, both in teaching me from a work lens when I came in not knowing much, but also in improving my confidence and self esteem. Genuinely someone I really look up to, and she’s one of the only people who fully supports me and sees me for who I am without ever expecting anything in return

Sadly, usually good people at work ended up unpopular among their peers out of jealousy and office politics. Ofc intern’s point of view will give the most objective one who is the real good person. Because an intern won't give anyone a promotion and if the person is still good to someone who can repay their goodness. That's the real good person. If I were you I will keep in touch with that person and he/she will definitely give recommendation for you.

So she’s become a lot more than just a boss and I just can’t shake that sadness from it. Really sucks I also feel selfish for feeling like that though. I’m an intern. Even though I’ve been there for a year and don’t have an end date, and she was pushing to get me full time, I likely wasn’t going to be permanent. I feel like I should be fully happy for her for finding something that works even better for her than her current job
