Objectively just makes no sense from the ref. He gave the corner so it’s assumed that it’s gonna be the last action of the half, and so players take time to make it count. If he was gonna just blow it, why even give the corner

Right bc the ref always blows the whistle on exactly the second the added time is up.

It makes absolute sense from the ref to do that because he knows the Arsenal tactics and that people watch them and countless replays. By just going into halftime he showed them that they won’t just be getting away with time wasting like they were used to

It’s not time wasting tho is it, it’s the last play of the half. They could have taken 10 minutes to set up that corner and it doesn’t cut into any playing time. It’s bizarre because the way to stop time wasting is to warn the players then book them. You won’t find any other instance like this one
