I like the idea of giving third place teams a shot but Algeria and Austria knew exactly what they needed to play for whereas teams like Scotland, South Korea, and even Iran didn’t quite have the same luxury. I don’t know how much of a difference it really would’ve made but it obviously opens the door for match fixing
