My reply to #1. But I’ll expand on that, Switzerland playing mostly their A team against MLS-based US players. Gap in quality is showing

Oh that’s tragic, yeah they really need to rework the situation in the US I think promotion/relegation would do a load of good for the quality and aggressively going after young talent instead of just taking washed up stars, we’ll get there eventually

It’s the easy solution because it makes men out of hard times. But those billionaire owners don’t want those hard times, so we’ll need to find different options to increase quality

I think a lot of talented kids literally never get the chance to play past like middle school, unlike basketball or football there’s like less development chances, mls next was a good first step imo

Those MLS Next kids are just now trickling into the senior MLS sides. It’ll be a while before we really see the fruits of their labor

In my opinion I think we should boycott MLS and take all our money to USL who seems to have proper football culture and promotion/relegation.

True but still a alarmingly bad national performance, especially with the US’s back left open the entire first half

Promotion regulation system won’t work in the US based on geography alone. The population is too spread out. The US is the size of Europe. Trying to get a semi pro team to travel across the country is impossible. You could try to split up the country into regions but the East and West regions would be much better than the central and mountain regions due to population differences.

Other countries have the luxury of their population being solely focused on soccer, the American population has 4 other sports it loves. Trying to create a promotion relegation system would require a focus that the American population just can’t give.
