You can blend genres! Dont limit yourself. In my reading experience some of the best reads are the ones that challenge and bend generic convention

Someone that might be worth reading or just looking into might be Margaret Atwood. She has a LOT of dystopia novels that also touch base on the “human condition” and political aspects of literary fiction. Also the short story Bloodchild by Octavia Butler. You could always look into the conventions of each genre and find commonalities to focus on.
